Peer Review Process
The Journal of Applied Business and Technology (JABT) is committed to maintaining the quality, originality, and academic integrity of published research through a rigorous, fair, transparent, and objective peer-review process.
All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial editorial assessment. Manuscripts that meet the journal's preliminary requirements proceed to a double-blind peer-review process involving at least two independent reviewers.
1. Initial Editorial Screening
Upon submission, each manuscript is evaluated by the editorial team to determine its suitability for publication in JABT.
The initial screening considers:
-
Relevance to the journal's aims and scope.
-
Originality and scholarly contribution.
-
Academic quality and research significance.
-
Compliance with the journal's author guidelines.
-
Adherence to publication ethics and research integrity standards.
Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements may be returned for preliminary revision or declined without external peer review.
2. Reviewer Assignment
Every manuscript that proceeds to external peer review must be evaluated by a minimum of two independent reviewers with relevant academic expertise.
Reviewers are selected based on their subject expertise, research experience, professional qualifications, and absence of conflicts of interest.
The editorial team is responsible for assigning qualified reviewers and ensuring the independence and objectivity of the evaluation process.
3. Double-Blind Peer Review
JABT implements a double-blind peer-review system in which the identities of authors and reviewers are concealed from one another during the review process.
Reviewers independently evaluate submitted manuscripts and provide constructive comments and recommendations to support the improvement of scholarly quality.
4. Review Criteria
Reviewers evaluate manuscripts based on the following criteria:
-
Relevance to the journal's aims and scope.
-
Originality and contribution to existing knowledge.
-
Clarity of research objectives and theoretical foundations.
-
Appropriateness and rigor of research methodology.
-
Quality of data analysis and interpretation.
-
Validity and significance of research findings.
-
Relevance and adequacy of scholarly references.
-
Clarity, organization, and academic writing quality.
-
Compliance with research and publication ethics.
5. Review Timeline
JABT establishes a maximum peer-review period of one month (30 calendar days) from the commencement of the external review process.
The editorial team coordinates reviewer assignments and monitors the progress of manuscript evaluations to ensure that reviews are completed within the established timeframe.
The review period refers to the external peer-review stage and does not include additional time required for author revisions, subsequent review rounds, copyediting, or production.
6. Editorial Decision
Following the completion of peer review, the handling editor evaluates the reviewers' reports and recommendations.
Editorial decisions may include:
-
Accept Submission: The manuscript is accepted for publication.
-
Revisions Required: The manuscript requires revisions before further editorial consideration.
-
Resubmit for Review: Substantial revisions are required, followed by additional evaluation.
-
Decline Submission: The manuscript does not meet the journal's publication requirements.
The final editorial decision is made by the Editor-in-Chief or an authorized editor based on the manuscript's scholarly merit, reviewers' evaluations, and compliance with journal standards.
7. Manuscript Revision
Authors receiving revision requests are expected to address reviewers' and editors' comments carefully.
A revised manuscript should be accompanied by a response explaining how each comment has been addressed.
Depending on the extent of the revisions, the manuscript may be reassessed by the handling editor or returned to reviewers for further evaluation.
A revision request does not guarantee acceptance for publication.
8. Confidentiality and Publication Ethics
Editors and reviewers must maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and disclose any potential conflicts of interest.
Reviewers must not use unpublished information obtained during the review process for personal or professional advantage.
All participants in the peer-review process are expected to comply with the journal's publication ethics policies.
9. Final Publication Decision
The Editor-in-Chief or authorized handling editor is responsible for the final decision regarding manuscript acceptance or rejection.
Accepted manuscripts proceed to the subsequent editorial and production stages in accordance with the journal's publication procedures.
